Here are some tips to prevent broken water pipes:
- Inspect all the pipe fittings and hose connections yearly. Replace any worn fitting including washing machines, dishwashers, sinks, refrigerator ice makers, water softeners and humidifiers.
- Know how to shut off your home's water supply. If a pipe does burst, closing the water valve quickly will minimize damage.
- If you go on vacation or are out of the house for several days, shut off the water supply to your toilets, sinks, tubs and washing machine.
